At Ultimate Fleet Repair, we get daily calls from drivers and fleet managers asking about our services. Much of our business comes from word-of-mouth referrals from fleet managers who are satisfied with the level of service they receive from us.

Vehicle Inspections

Although before and after driver vehicle inspection reports are mandated by the DOT FMCSA, we perform a rigid inspection when you bring your vehicles in for scheduled maintenance.

Everything starts with a thorough inspection, whether it’s an oil change, engine tune-up or transmission service. By doing a thorough inspection, we can spot worn or defective parts to avoid costly roadside repairs.

Oil Changes and Tune-Ups

The primary goal of oil changes and vehicle tune-ups should be to minimize engine wear and tear with clean lubricants and maximize fuel efficiency with a well-tuned engine.

Depending on your diesel engine’s oil capacity, you should change the oil and filter every 5,000 to 10,000 miles.

It would be best to have a complete tune-up done on your vehicles every 100,000 miles, or whatever length of time is specified in your vehicle’s user manual, to prevent voiding the warranty.

Transmission Services

Preventative maintenance (PM) is essential to avoid costly roadside repairs. You should complete these services every 30,000 miles to ensure proper performance and minimize repairs.

Air Conditioning (A/C) Services

Although A/C maintenance is not a priority this time of year, it should be performed annually. Therefore, we recommend servicing the A/C during the tune-up or oil change in March or April.

Radiator Services

We recommend a radiator flush and anti-freeze change every 60,000 miles to prevent sludge buildup in your cooling system.

Brakes & Air Compressor Services

The driver must check the brakes and brake adjustments before every trip. However, a thorough service of the truck’s brakes should be done every 30,000 miles.

A thorough inspection and service of the vehicle’s brake system should be done preferably in May, June or July to make sure your vehicles are ready for the annual Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) Brake Safety Week.

Usually, the CVSA schedules that event in August, and they recently announced their Brake Safety Week will be from August 20 to 26, 2023.
